Biography
Steve joined CSIRO in the Electromagnetic and Antennas group in 1990 to work on the prototype design of a MultiBeam earth station antenna. During this early work Steve helped develop an automated bed-system for manufacturing the MultiBeam panels, which CSIRO then patented.
In 1993 Steve then moved into a dual role of managing the computer systems for the Electromagnetics and Antennas group and providing antenna engineering support to research projects, which included computational programming and antenna systems design. In 1994/95 Steve worked in a small team to develop a propagation test bed to investigate indoor propagation characteristics for early WLAN systems. After this followed a series of commercial research projects and then in 2000 Steve became the Project Engineer for the development of CSIRO's current 4.5m MultiBeam antenna.
In 2001 Steve became the Project Leader of what was then the antenna measurement ranges, prototyping workshop and computational computing facilties. In 2004, Steve's role expanded to also manage the ICT Centre's RF and MMIC testing and packaging labs.
