Biography
Rong-Yu Qiao graduated from the Northeast University of China with a bachelor degree in engineering in 1984. He obtained his PhD from the University of Tsukuba, Japan in 1991. After spending two years as a research and teaching fellow in Curtin University, Western Australia, he joined the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia in 1993, where he is now a principal research scientist.
He has led and been involved in many projects throughout the years, including Acoustic Echo Cancellation, Speech Compression, Speaker Verification, Face Recognition, Virtual Critical Care Unit, Virtual Class Room, and ASKAP.
His expertise and research interests include array signal processing, image/video processing, speech and face recognition, mobile communications, antenna and propagations, audio/video over IP and signalling for networked applications.
