Biography

Rajiv Jayasena joined CSIRO's Australian E-Health Research Centre in 2010 to the role of Senior Project Manager for the Collaborative Care Cluster Australia (CCCA), which is a Victorian Science Agenda funded consortium of health service providers, industry and research partners.
Rajiv has over 18 years experience in medical research, including over 10 years experience in commercial industry and project management. He has held academic positions at Monash and Melbourne Universities. Making the transition from academia to industry, Rajiv joined CSL Limited in Parkville, Melbourne, where he worked for 10 years. At CSL he held several senior management positions, which included leading the Quality Development group, Business Operations Manager and Compliance and Improvements Manager - Australia. In these positions he was responsible for leading cross functional and international teams for globalisation of Australian vaccines; development and implementation of the quality strategy; managing technology transfers; harmonisation of quality systems to US FDA and TGA requirements; risk management and R&D. Rajiv also has expertise in conducting international multi centre studies for qualification/validation of test methods and managing multi centre clinical studies for registration of medical devices.
Rajiv has recently focused on operational excellence methodologies using Lean Six Sigma and lead improvement projects that resulted in increasing efficiencies, reliability and quality of manufactured products with significant cost savings.
Rajiv completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in the field of immunology at Monash University. He completed a PhD in Medicine at the University of Melbourne in the field of neuroscience developing immunodiagnostics for the early detection of Alzheimer ’s disease. Rajiv has published research articles in peer review journals and held various academic scholarships and awards including The University of Melbourne Postgraduate Scholarship, VanCleef Roet Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship and the Alfred Research Award. He has a Diploma in Business from RMIT and professional qualifications in management of operational excellence (Black Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma).
