Biography
For the past three years, Peter Taylor has worked as a Research Engineer in the CSIRO Information, Communication, and Technology Centre in Hobart.
He has a background in the development of time-series management systems, environmental models, and integration of sensor data streams. Prior to joining CSIRO, he worked for an environmental data management company.
Peter is currently leading an international collaboration to develop WaterML 2.0 – an open standard for the exchange of hydrological observations. This initiative is operating under WIRADA and building on the development of the Australian Water Data Transfer Format.
Peter is a passionate believer in the use of ICT and open data to assist in the management of natural resources and our environment. He works in a number of projects dealing with real-time sensor data, models, and web services and is an active member of the Open Geospatial Consortium.
