Biography
Peter Marendy has completed a Bachelor of Computing(Hons) at James Cook University. The research focus of the Honours thesis was Improved Web Search Through Link Topology : Web Graph Analysis. Peter has undertaken a Vacation Scholarship with CMIS CSIRO Visualisation where he developed a visualisation tool for analysis of mpeg encoded video data.
Following the completion of his Honours degree, Peter worked as a contract programmer developing video analysis software. Peter later took a position as the Operations Co-Ordinator in the Computing Infrastructure Unit, Information Technology and Resources at James Cook University. He then accepted a position as an APAC Project Officer within the High Performance and Research Computing Unit. This role involved development of Grid enabled Bio-Informatics packages for APAC affiliated researchers, as well as system administration and support duties for the University.
Peter has also been involved in the Hands on Universe Project (HOU) which is based at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University of California (Berkeley). The collaboration with HOU was both research and engineering based, looking at Grid based Scheduling for Robotic Telescopes.
Currently Peter is working as a Research Engineer on the Web Interface - Energy Systems Models project (Energy Transformed Flagship), at the Tasmanian ICT Centre. Peter also performs project management duties for the Tasmanian ICT Centre.
