Biography
Navinda joined CSIRO in December 2009 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Autonomous Systems Lab. Previously he conducted robotics research at The Australian National University and was a team member of the Serafina project which developed swarming technology for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). His fields of interest include Wireless Sensor Networks, Localization, Navigation, Experimental robotics, Robot swarms and Mechatronics. Navinda completed his PhD in Robotics at The Australian National University in November 2009. During his PhD candidature he designed, developed and experimentally evaluated a novel high precision, high update rate distributed localization sensor to be deployed on small agile underwater vehicles to facilitate swarming. He is also a member of the IEEE, the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the IEEE Computer Society and the ACM.
