Biography

Jane Li is a research scientist at CSIRO ICT Centre’s Information Engineering Laboratory based at Sydney. Her research interests are in the areas of Computer Supported Cooperated Work (CSCW), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and e-Health. Her research focuses on understanding work practices, human-computer interactions and usability issues that occur in emerging interaction technologies and how to use these field and lab understandings to design advanced collaboration technologies that fit well with particular work settings.

Since she joined CSIRO in 2001 she has explored a wide range of technologies applications and human practices relating to distributed collaboration, including collaboration in complex and challenging work environment, broadband telehealth, gesture representation in remote collaboration on physical task, using gaze tracking technology to study visual behaviour in video-mediated collaboration, shared digital workspace and multi-display environment and their applications.

Her research has been published in various journals, including Computer Supported Cooperative Work, Behaviour and Information Technology and Telemedicine and e-Health, and presented in international conferences, including CSCW, Interact, HICSS, CBMS and OzCHI. She has served on a number of program committees and reviewed papers for international conferences. She is a member of the Computer Human Interaction Special Interest Group (CHISIG) of the Ergonomics Society of Australia and a member of the Australasian Telehealth Society. She is also a member of the Interaction Design and Human Practice Lab at University of Technology, Sydney.
