Biography

Dr Jian (Andrew) Zhang was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications engineering from Xi'an JiaoTong University, China, in 1996, a Master of Science degree from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, in 1999, a PhD degree in wireless communications from the Australian National University, in 2004. He joined in the wireless laboratory CSIRO, Sydney as a research scientist in January 2010, and before that he was a researcher in the Networked System, NICTA, Canberra.

Dr. Zhang's research interests are in the areas of signal processing and wireless communications. He has won three international prizes for his work. In NICTA, he was the leader of the Multiband OFDM UWB project, and a principal member of a 60GHz radio project, and the human performance improvement project. Dr. Zhang has published more than 60 Journal and conference papers, and delivered 6 patents. He is actively involved in the editorial board of international Journal and TPC of leading conferences. During 1999 to 2001, Dr. Zhang worked as a system and hardware engineer in ZTE Corp. in China, being involved in DSLAM and soft switch development.

Currently, he is working on system design and development for very high speed wireless backhaul systems.
