Biography
Mr Terhorst trained in marine geology at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He started his research career studying acoustic techniques for mapping the seafloor. Mr Andrew Terhorst is leading the sensor informatics stream in the Integrated Water Information Systems theme.
Mr Terhorst worked as a marine geophysicist in the marine diamond industry before starting his own remote sensing/spatial technologies consulting firm in 1991.
In 2004 Mr Terhorst joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research as Earth Observation Manager at the Satellite Applications Centre. There he developed an interest in a concept known as the Sensor Web and established a new research group focused on Sensor Web Enablement.
Mr Terhorst joined CSIRO in 2007 and is currently leading research on Hydrological Sensor Webs.
