Overview
I am the Project leader for the Search and Delivery group,
with team members spread across the ANU, Macquarie, and Marsfield ICT Centre locations.
This group encompasses substantial expertise in Information Retrieval, Language Generation
and Information Delivery, and Structured Media.
Cecile Paris, Dave Hawking, and Silvia Pfeiffer are Science Leaders within this group.
We are combining our strengths in all 3 areas
to create new technologies for better information supply.
At ANU
in 1999 I helped develop the first version of
Panoptic (now known as Funnelback) and set it
running over the University's web sites. I've spent time working in
research groups and laboratories, large commercial computer
companies, and small startups. I enjoy research, reading, writing,
programming, building products, working with students, project
management, group collaboration, and much more.

Publications
My publications fall into three main
categories: specific project-related
papers, those associated with my research interests in
information retrieval and Web search, and those associated with
my Ph.D. research topic involving the development of an
extension to the programming language ML, called paraML.
