  • Chair of CHISIG: the Computer Human Interaction Special Interest Group  of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia (HSESA). (CHISIG is the Australian National Society for Human-Computer Interaction). Since 2001.
     
  • Local co-chair (with Robert Dale) of Coling-ACL 2006, Sydney, Australia.


  • November 2005: Elected President of  ALTA, the newly founded Australasian Language Technology Association. (Member of the Executive Commitee 2002-2004.) Served as President 2005-2007, then as past president on the exec 2007-2009.
     
  • Member of the Editorial Board of Computational Linguistics , the Journal of the Association for Computational Linguistics: (2004 - 2006).
     
  • Membre du comité editorial de la Revue d’Intelligence Artificielle (RIA) (Member of the Editorial Committee of RIA, "Artificial Intelligence Review").
