Yann Driutti: An Intern with the
Information Delivery R&D Group
of the Information Engineering Research Laboratory in the
CSIRO ICT Centre

Hi, my name is Yann Driutti. I’m 24 years old, and I come from
France. I’m in my last year of engineering school in
Polytech’Montpellier. I am studying Computer Science and Management.
This means that I learnt different computer languages (e.g., C,
Java, XML, ActionScript, PHP, Lisp, Ada, etc.), Relational and
object databases (MCD, Oracle, SQL), design methods (UML, Design
patterns) but also accounting, financial analysis and organisational
theories. Now, I’m doing a training course at the CSIRO in the Dr.
Cécile Paris’s group for six months.
My training course?
For the moment I'm working on the experimentation of the
demonstrator called 'SciFly'. It’s an application based on the
Myriad platform. Given a simple particular request from a person, it
can produce tailored brochures on projects, groups or laboratories
of the CSIRO ICT Centre, constructing paragraphs, building the
structure of the document, and organizing the rhetoric. While the
evaluation we are conducting is with respect to SciFly, the aim of
the work is to evaluate one of the basic elements of our approach to
Tailored Delivery: whether synthesis and tailoring of information is
useful.
Why the CSIRO?
I’m very happy to make my training course in the CSIRO in Australia,
because I like to work with researchers, to see other countries, to
speak others languages. And Australia is a beautiful country where
everything is different. There is an extraordinary fauna and flora,
sometimes dangerous, and interesting aboriginals who play didgeridoo
and boomerang. Aussies have a very different culture, and others
hobbies than French. I hope that at the end of my course I could
visit more of Australia.
Loheac Alois?
Alois is a very good friend. I’m here thanks to him and thanks to
Dr. Danièle Hérin, a teacher in my school. Alois had done his
training course here, last year. Now, he is doing his last year of
study in Finland. He is a true adventurer. Maybe I’ll find him again
on another planet and we’ll talk hours and hours about our
adventures. Thank you, Alois.
