Marc Hermann and Joan
Giralt-Duran have recently left us. They worked at interns
in our team. Yann worked with us on the evaluation of our approach to information
delivery Marc workedon a new prototype integrating
SciFly and
Annodex.
Joan worked on a new algorithm to satisfy space constraints for
SciFly.
- We demonstrated
SciFly at
CeBit, Sydney, May
9-11th, 1006. SciFly
is a
system that produces tailored brochures about the CSIRO ICT
Centre. SciFly illustrates our
Myriad framework for information retrieval and delivery. <Pictures

- IUI 2006: January 29th - Feb 1st, Sydney.
The 2006 International Conference on
Intelligent User Interfaces, IUI 2006, took place at UTS
and the Power House Museum, Sydney,
January 29 - February 1, 2006. See the IUI 2006 web site for details.
General Chairs: Ernest Edmonds (UTS, Australia) and Doug
Riecken (IBM, USA).
Technical Chairs: Cécile Paris (CSIRO) and Candy Sidner (MERL,
USA).
- Dr. Candy Sidner (MERL, USA) visited us in February
2006 to discuss issues of dialogues and interactions with robots,
exploring potential collaborations.
- Professor Kathy McKeown (Columbia University, New
York, USA) visited us in December 2006 as part of her sabbatical.
- I spent 5 weeks
as a visiting Professor at the University of Bremen (Germany),
December 2004 - January 2005, hosted by Prof
Dr John Bateman.

Computational Linguistics , the Journal of the
Association for Computational Linguistics.
