Intelligent Interactive Technology

Scenario of Use:

Tiddler can be applied to a wide variety of scenarios. To demonstrate the technology, we have chosen to concentrate on just one.  In this scenario, the user is planning a trip and its itinerary.  To do this, the user consults the personalised travel guide.  The details of the trip, such as the dates of travel are fixed, since this is a business trip for the user.  However, the user currently has some free time in the itinerary and wants to know what else to do, as well as where to eat and where to stay.

The user first enters his or her details into a profile.  At present, this profile is collected using a web form on the user's first interaction with Tiddler.

The profile contains a list of the user's personal interests as well as the details of the trip he or she is going to make.  The user completes the form and a personalised guide for the web is made, drawing information from various travel websites and databases together.

The user sees a table of contents to help navigate through this information which contains general information about the destination and surrounds, places to stay, places to eat, things to do, special events that are being held.

As the user reads this customised hypertext document, the sources from which the pieces of information have been extracted are listed, should the user with to visit that website.  The information is customised so that only information relevant to the user is presented.  For example, special events that are on at the time of travel are presented.  Special booking prices applicable to the dates of travel are also presented to the user.

The user has made preliminary decisions about where to stay and what activities to do, but wishes now to consult others attending the same business trip.  The user generates a version for a personal digital assistant, in this case, a palm pilot.

The same document the user viewed a few minutes ago is now re-arranged for the small screen device, however it is essentially the same document.  The user speaks to a friend at lunch and quickly finds the information to share with the friend.

They agree and are soon off on a well planned trip.
