Tiddler technology brings together leading edge expertise in
Natural Language Generation and document re-use technology.
Tiddler is able to collate information from a variety of data
sources, from SQL databases to structured web pages. Compared
to a potentially long list of answers which a search engine may
produce, Tiddler is able to create a readable coherent travel guide
that merges information from these varying sources.
Additionally, the coherence that results in a readable document is
achieved automatically by planning the document, as opposed to a
human author constructing and maintaining numerous document
templates by hand. Because Tiddler constructs the travel
guide from scratch, it is able to keep track of how different parts
of the document relate to one another. Thus, it knows which
parts of the document are more important and which parts are only of
secondary importance. By having these relationships between
parts of the document, Tiddler is able to re-arrange the document
for display on different media, such as web, print or PDA's.
For example, information of secondary importance might be placed in
hyperlinks. Importantly, because each media dependent version
of the travel guide is a variant of the original document, each
version has the same relationships between between parts of
documents. Essentially, this means the content is organised in
the same way for each version of the travel guide, making navigation
through the guide consistent across all media.
