DENNIS COOPER
Dennis Cooper
graduated from the University of Adelaide with a PhD in Electrical
Engineering. He joined CSIRO in 1968 to undertake antenna research
and from 1972 was primarily involved in technology transfer from the
research environment to industry.
Dr Cooper was
appointed Chief of CSIRO Radiophysics in 1988. After a corporate
restructure Dr Cooper led CSIRO Telecommunications & Industrial
Physics, managed NASA's Australian facilities and coordinated
CSIRO's Information Technology & Telecommunications Sector from 1996
to 2000.
Dr Cooper held
consulting contracts with Radiata, Inc. developing an antenna
product and Nortel Networks advising on technology investment during
2000. He is a fellow of the Academy of Technology Sciences and
Engineering and the Institution of Radio and Electronic Engineers,
elected to Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineers
Australia, a Senior Member of the Institution of Electrical
Engineers (NY) and a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers
(London). Dr Cooper is also a member of the Australian Institute of
Company Directors.
Dr Cooper is
currently appointed the official Visitor to the Sensor Signal and
Information Processing and Chairman of the Advisory Board for the
Centre for Networking Technologies for the Information Economy
(CeNTIE).
Dr Cooper has an
extensive background in communications and space related systems.
Other experience crosses research, industry liaison and
commercialisation in geophysical imaging, biosensors, microwave
integrated circuits, antenna systems and communication systems.
