Developing Software for Medical Devices

A case study will be presented on the development of software for a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) system used for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a major subset of SDB. The topics covered will include:

  • The role of a cross-functional team in developing the right product, safely
  • Treating software as part of an overall system 
  • Developing software in a regulated environment
  • Utilising a Risk Management approach to develop safe software 
  • Selecting an appropriate Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) 
  • The role of Verification, Validation and Testing 
  • Why Software is different from Hardware
