Sensor Networks - no-wire SCADA systems or
something more?

This talk will overview the emerging area of
(wireless) sensor networks with an emphasis on research challenges
which underpin the business case for this technology. Wireless
sensor networks can be thought of as 'no-wire' versions of well
known SCADA systems and there are many situations where the removal
of wires is of great value. There are also however more significant
opportunities for wireless sensor networks if certain fundamental
research challenges can be met. This talk will further describe this
view and articulate some of the research challenges.
