Cécile Paris: What do I do?
I lead the research in
Information Delivery
R&D Group at the CSIRO ICT
Centre. Our research is concerned with the effective delivery
of information, cutting through information overload to deliver
information when and where it is needed in a readily understood
format, and providing users with appropriate ways to engage with
information.
Our activities include:
- Developing intelligent mechanisms to process natural language
(e.g., synthesise or summarise information);
- Developing multimodal interfaces;
- Investigating mechanisms for coherent, tailored information
delivery;
- Developing mechanisms to allow users to engage with information
in the most appropriate manner;
- Assessing the impact of tailored delivery.
In all these activities, we:
- conduct research into methodologies and tools,
- design and develop prototypes when appropriate,
- and provide consultation services to industry.
See our web page! We
are part of the Information
Engineering Research Laboratory, which is concerned with developing
new tools, methods, architectures and products that allow people
to effectively manage, query, analyse and refine information from
many sources, and to navigate and deliver information that improves
decision-making anywhere, anytime.
Recent article about me: Sailing into
the unknown. An article by Cynthia Karena,
Sydney Morning Herald and the Age, July 11, 2006.
Article about our work: 'The
future of information retrieval and delivery'. In CSIRO
Topic, December 2004.
We publish a newsletter twice a year to give an overview of our
activities. The June 2006 newsletter is now available.
