stephen mccombie
Stephen McCombie has worked in the security community for over 20
years. He is currently a PhD candidate at Macquarie University’s
School of Computing doing research into transnational and organised
cybercrime. He has published a number of papers on cybercrime,
computer forensics and incident response. He spent 14 years in the
NSW Police Force as a Detective and helped establish their Computer
Crime Unit. Since joining the private sector in 1998 he has held
investigation and IT security roles within Qantas, Westpac and IBM.
He is currently the Manager IT Security Assessment and Response for
the National Australia Bank. His team’s responsibilities include IT
security incident response, computer forensics, IT threat
intelligence, IT security surveillance and IT security testing. He
holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Graduate Diploma in Computing, and a
Masters of Information Technology. Stephen is a Certified Fraud
Examiner (CFE), a Certified Information Systems Security
Professional (CISSP) and an Information Systems Security Management
Professional (ISSMP).
