Next-Generation Spoken Language Dialog Systems
What does the future look like for spoken language
dialog systems? In this talk, we take a look into the crystal ball
to see what's coming in the next 5-10 years. From a technical perspective,
research coming out of the labs focuses on techniques for processing
the acoustic signal, techniques for managing the interaction with
the user, and techniques for improving the quality of synthesised
speech. We will look at coming developments in each of these areas
in terms of the impacts they'll make on applications of spoken language
technology:
- advances that will result in better quality applications;
- advances that will take us beyond telephony; and
- advances that will broaden the scope of possible applications.
The talk will be structured around ten developments to watch out
for in the next 5-10 years.
