Services Oriented Computing: the Challenges and Opportunities
in e-Business Development
Jian Yang,
CSIRO ICT Centre
In today's world enterprises need to be dynamic and
adaptive in order to stay competitive. This has led to an increasing
demand for the provision of on demand business services and automating
their adaptation to changing market conditions, organizational policies,
usage scenarios and other factors. Increasingly, the focus has been
on service oriented computing (SOC), the new emerging paradigm for
distributed computing and e-business processing, to deliver such
flexible and adaptable business services. The platform neutral nature
of web services creates the opportunity for corporate businesses
to develop business processes by using and combining existing services.
In this talk we will outline the opportunities the SOC has provided
to e-business development compared with previous/existing computing
paradigm, and the challenging issues the web service community is
facing.
