Abstract

Image and video analysis is a mature field of research nowadays.
It has evolved through the "region based" analysis towards the
"object based" paradigm. Current contributions address the
problem of understanding the semantics of video objects at the
highest level --as humans beings do-- using available image and
video analysis tools.
This talk will present the role that "structure analysis" may play in
helping to solve the problem of image understanding. This will be
illustrated through a particular application for the automatic
painting of cartoon movies, a current project developed by UPC
for the producer D'Ocon Films Productions, based in Barcelona.
