Abstract

Globally investment is chasing innovative technologies that have the capacity to create new products or companies that have the potential to create vast wealth. To scientists, and many outside of the investment community, the recipients of this investment such as many of the dot com companies seem to be more smoke and mirrors then legitimate generators of wealth. So what drives the thinking behind these investments, and what are the likely outcomes? This presentation will look at these issues and discuss how CSIRO, and Australian research more generally, may play a role in the creation of these new products and companies. Included will be a case study on Viator Systems, and the Electronic Travel Planner initiative being developed by Viator Systems based on CSIRO technologies.

Hope this fills the bill Stephen. Now I just have to hope I can pull this together on Saturday. I would like to meet with yourself, or whoever looks after the technology of the presentation itself, early on Tuesday to make certain there is no problems with the PowerPoint presentation.
