Abstract

We have designed a system of opaque maskes for enhancing the resolution of an image scanning system. Our talk answers to the following questions (among may other):

  • How can a set of masked detectors improve the performance of an image scanning system?
  • Why are some masking systems better than others?
  • What has that to do with an n-dimensional hypercube and a class of symmetric polynomials?
  • Why is this a problem where computers fail but humans succeed?

This is a repeat of a talk we have given in Canberra.
