Abstract
Contrary to popular belief the development of effective computer
software has very little to do with computers, software methodologies,
programming languages and other software tools and technologies. It has
much more to do with humans - their abilities, goals, and understanding
of what is required, how they work (particularly how they work together
in teams) and how they can be organised to achieve a desired outcome.
The area of Software Engineering known as Software Process is concerned
with understanding, describing, modelling and improving (among other
things) the activities that contribute to the development of software.
