Abstract

In this talk, a robust mixture decomposition algorithm that automatically finds a compact representation of the data in terms of categories will be presented. The application of this algorithm to the problem of organizing  image databases for efficient retrieval will be described. It will be shown that by using this algorithm, significant savings in the time taken for  retrieval can be realized. A comparison of the proposed database organization method with other techniques on the Vis Tex texture database will be presented.
