Interactive control of image display in medical images visualisation

Location: E-Health Research Centre, Brisbane

Supervisor: Pierrick Bourgeat and Sebastien Ourselin

Project description:

The BioMedIA Lab has developed a cross-platform Medical Image Viewer (MixView). The viewer allows for extensibility through a plugin interface. The goals of this project is to develop the code for the plugin to integrate brightness/contrast and gamma control into MixView.

The outcomes of this project will be a demonstration of the histogram control, implemented as plugin for the MixView Cross-platform medical image viewer. The demonstration will show the loading of a plugin, display of the histogram on the whole image, and on a region of interest, interactive changes of the BCG on the histogram and update of the image BCG within MixView. The student will have the opportunity to design the plugin GUI and design strategies for modifying the histogram.

 The student will learn about histogram manipulation and visualisation. The student will also develop Software Engineering skills in requirements, design and testing in a cross-platform environment for Medical Image processing.

Skills:

C++, Linux, Computer Graphics
